Gabby's new bed

This is Gabby in her new bed. Last night Gabby slept in her own bed by herself until 4:30 in the morning!!! We are making progress. She is a good mom and makes sure that all of her animals are tucked in the bed for a nap or for night-night.

Gabby's Work Attire

I know....but I thought I'd share how Gabby gets dressed for work everyday! In the morning, she comes into my closet to help me get dressed for work. She then rushes over to my underwear drawer and proceeds to put each one of them around her neck! Once she is done - she tells us that she is headed to work. It is really funny....until she decides she wants them off all at once!

Good-Bye Crib

We all said good-bye to Gabby's crib last night. She hasn't slept in it for a few weeks so nobody was too sad to see it go...other than me! I am only sad because this means my little girl really is growing up!

Gabby and the seals

We went down to La Jolla this weekend and stopped to see the seals. Gabby had a busy weekend full of trips to the beach (where she swam naked with a shovel nosed shark!!), the zoo and playing with Mia. Mia came over to swim last night and the girls were jumping on the mat when Gabs took a little tumble...nothing sobers a fun night faster than a bloody lip! Not to worry - she was fine a few minutes later. Gabby is off to see Dr. Granet today for a check-up.

Gabby & Lucky / Update

Gabby met a very friendly dog last night at the beach named "Lucky". Lucky made sure she gave Gabby lots of kisses :) Gabby also wanted her dog "New" to play with Lucky but Lucky thought she wanted her to eat New.

Last night we went for a picnic at the beach and "lucked" into a concert by a Beatles cover band. It was quite an event and thing to do....Gabby ran around the beach and played in the waves although the ocean is not particularly warm this year (and there are a lot of shark sightings). It was a wonderful evening and a lot of fun.

A few other updates - Gabby has been going to the zoo on a regular basis and LOVES her new animals and animal shirt from Grandmother Ann. Gabby knows that the Panda's live in China and that the other big animals live in Africa (elephants, camels, etc...). She loves the zoo and all of the fun that she has when she goes. Gabby is talking so much and is hilarious.

Gabby is swimming. She is doggy paddling and is moving forward under water. She continues to love the water. Gabby is also hanging off of bars at the park and thinks going up and down steps is fun.

Gabby decided this week that she liked string cheese again (after refusing to eat it for months). She eats about 5 pieces a day! She is also doing great with frozen gogurts, broccoli, tri-tip, chicken and ham. She definitely prefers chocolate milk to regular milk - and will tell you so!

We are close to the potty training stage. Gabby will tell me immediately once she goes to the bathroom and take me to the bathroom. She is actually running to the changing table!

Lastly, Gabby has decided that she is done sleeping in her crib. She has now taken over the guest bed (until we sell her crib and get her a new bed). Not sure that I am too happy about this...I liked knowing she was contained in her crib and since she never crawled out - I was able to sleep through the night. We are in the process of teaching her to stay in her room...which if anyone has any secrets - please share! She is up usually once a night but then gets up between 5 & 6am!!!

Gabby loves to cook

One of our neighbors gave us this wonderful kitchen. Gabby loves it...but we needed to stock it with food. Gordon and I had a great idea to use "real food" rather than the plastic fake food. I bought small cans of various food at the grocery store and no sooner did we stock the kitchen then did Gabby drop the biggest can there was (baked beans) on her big toe! It hit just right that it cut her toe and drew blood :( She cried a little and said ouch but when I tried to put a band-aid on her toe to keep her from getting blood on everything - the real crying started! We tried 3 different times and the pain only started once we put the band-aid on. We ended up just putting a sock on her foot until the bleeding stopped.
Gabby also enjoys playing with my shoes and clothes as I get ready in the mornings...what a necklace :)
