Gabby's Happy Holidays

We saw Santa Clause today! He made a surprise visit to the clubhouse after craft time! Gabby wasn't quite sure who he was...but NO tears! Even Santa commented on what a good girl she was.

Gabby is teething right now and they are killing her. She loves to munch on bags of frozen peas (even though she will not eat a pea cooked!).

Gabby is growing up! We got some stickers for the walls and she loves them! They add color and texture. Gabby is starting to feed herself...which means we have a LOT of messes!

Thanksgiving 2009

Gabby had a blast this past weekend at The Farm. She had her first horseback ride on a 3-year old philly named "Snowpea". She was calm and really enjoyed it. Gabby got up close and personal with the goats, baby calves, kittens, Freckles and the other horses. She also had a lot of good "Grandma Time".

Gabby also enjoyed playing in the leaves...nothing better than a leaf pile! She got to go ont he swings with her Uncle Jack and was a star all weekend.

Gabby is 13 months!

It is hard to believe and the time really has flown by. Gabby is finally healthy - she has had an ear infection that would not go away, a cold and then a rash. The only thing that remains is the rash (knock on wood)... She is walking everywhere is really independent.

PlayDate

November 14, 2009 - Gabby had a playdate and had a ball. She enjoyed driving the fire truck and held her own with the boys.

The next day she got to go on a fun walk with Aunt Sandy.

Here are some exciting pictures from Halloween 2009. Gabby was a ferocious princess with a tiarra and septor fit for a young brittish royal! We had fun as this was our first Halloween where we had actual trick-or-treaters.

Gabby Update

Gabby has been a trooper even though she has been sick. We had our first high fever of 104.3 and Gabby made sure I saw what she ate for lunch! It is amazing what a cool bath and some motrin can do! She turned into her normal self and started pulling everything out of the cupboards. We have been to the doctor and are headed back tomorrow. This morning Gabby was up before the roosters and was ready to go...mom on the other hand does not function well in the hours between 1:30am and 6:00am!

Getting Ready for Halloween

We are getting in the holiday spirit and have carved our pumpkins. Gabby wanted to eat her pumpkin more than she wanted to help me clean out the inside. She was a big help in holding the top of the pumpkin and making sure it didn't get misplaced!

Gabby's 1 year stats

I thought I'd share with you all a little bit of our "unhappy" Gabby. We had Gabby's 1-year appointment yesterday (when this video was shot) and the doctor asked us if Gabby had been a little extra fussy or if her sleep patterns had been distrupted. We said "yes" but thought it was related to the travel for her party. Come to find out, Gabby has an ear infection and an eye infection and this is her "unhappy" self :) As you can see, she is very tough. and we feel very fortunate!

Her 1-year stats are: 31 inches long (90%), 21 lbs (50%), and her head is in the 90% as well. On top of Gabby not feeling well, she had two shots as well. She is a trooper for sure!

Since Gabby's party, she has started to take off. Today she is "offically" walking...I know I know, we are in for it now. Next thing to figure out is the food...She should be eating what we eat, but we have to figure out what we are eating first!

Gabby on her First Birthday

These pictures were from October 16, 2009 - Gabby's first birthday. It is hard to believe that she is a year old already...time really does fly by when you're having fun. Gabby was totally spoiled on her birthday and got lots of great new reading material and clothes. She is set!

We will have more pictures from her birthday party in a couple of days and as soon as I get them I will post for your viewing pleasure.

Gabby in Del Mar and First Steps

We went to the beach this weekend and Gabby had a ball. She loved walking on the grass and the swings. She continues to love her books (even the "spooky" one that Grandmother Ann brought that weekend). This last picture reminds me so much of Gordon that I couldn't resist putting it up :)

Gabby is starting to walk more and more. She is testing herself to see how far she can go. We have seen her go 8-10 steps! This isn't her best outing, but still fun to watch.

Aunt Sandy

Aunt Sandy came to visit Gabby and me last week. It was a short visit but wonderful. Gabby enjoys spending time with her extended family...and as usual is wearing a big smile :)

Dog Surfing Championships

So this only happens in a beach town...but this morning was the Del Mar Dog Surf Competition. It is one of the largest of its kind in the world! We had a blast watching the dogs surf and Gabby enoyed the festivities as well...

Gabby's Harley

Gabby got a horse! Yep and his name is Harley. It has taken about 1 week for her to warm up to him but she is starting to ride him. She still hasn't figured out why or when he neighs but she is enjoying it.

Gabby has started to enjoy opening/closing doors and cupboards. She has also starrted to enjoy the bar stools and finds them a fun jungle gym. She is testing all parts of it and has a large bruise on her forehead to prove it :)

Now that Gabby can open doors, she is able to open the cupboard where we keep some of her books. As you can see, she enjoys reading them all at once! No worries Grandmother Ann - these are only the hard books!

Gabby's New Shades

Gabby got new shades! I know, I know...but these are her accessory item :) These are retro sunglasses from Baby Banz. Too Cool! It has been very hot here in San Diego for the last 3 days so Gabby has been enjoying the pool. We even did our first night swim on Thursday. It was the first time that Gabby had been in the pool at night and sh enjoyed the time with no sunglasses.

Gabby continues to enjoy swimming and is in the pool for up to 45 min a day! Gabby has a new friend at the pool named Elena - although they have not exchanged words yet, they like to sit and stare at each other. Elena is turning one but is prettu close in age.

Gabby got her first horse. She is not sure what to make of it yet. As Gordon would say...it just galloped right into my shopping cart :) The horse neighs and makes galloping noise. Right now Gabs is a little afraid of it and is trying to figure it all out.

We are going through a no-eating phase but I am hopeful that it will end soon. To be more correct, Gabby is eating but really only Cheerios and toast. She started eating turkey and swiss cheese as well. We also just started formula as I am starting the weaning process.

All in all, Gabby is doing great and continues to be a delight!

Gabby's teeth

Gabby is growing up quick! She now has 4 teeth and munches on everything. Gabby continues to get stronger everyday. She is starting to take steps and goes "no hands" to see how long she can stand on her own. She can go about 10 seconds!

Gabby also continues to enjoy the pool. She is very lucky as Gordon takes her swimming almost everyday! She sits on the edge of the pool and will fall forward into our arms, she kicks her legs and even puts part of her face in the water! We had our first full head dunking the other day in the bathtub...still no tears!

We got a full length mirror and Gabby loves it! She also really is getting good at the peek-a-boo game. She is starting to wait to pull the blanket off her head...a smart little girl.

Gabby really loves her books. The books that make cat and dog sounds are some of her favorite and she knows exactly where those buttons are at all times :) Her favorite book is the Barnyard Dance and she gets upset when the book is over!

Gabby is getting more and more curious about things and loves to open drawers and empty them. She is growing up fast!

Gabby's Personality

Every day is fun with Gabby. Saturday we went to the park and Gabby had her first "sting". We are not sure what it was that got her...but her right foot swelled up, got red and had a fever. Good thing is was just her foot :) She handled it like a champ and didn't even mind the ice cube we stuck on it after.

Yesterday we all went to a Padres game (Gabby's first). Her eye doctor invited us to the game along with the other doctors that she visits...I have to tell you, I've gone to a lot of baseball games and this is the way to do it! We were fortunate to be in the owners private box, which was great for Gabby so she could crawl around and not be in the direct sunlight. Dr. Granet and Dr. Zhang were both very pleased with her progress.

Today, she got her first bloody lip! That is what happens when you start walking (and she's not even 10 mos yet)! She gets more and more personality everyday and it is a lot of fun to watch. She already has papa wrapped around her little finger....

Gabby has 2 teeth

It took so long for the first one to appear but the second one just showed up! Gabby has been in great spirits lately and has started to eat the #3's really well!

This picture was taken at the beach this morning in Del Mar. We had a good time hanging on the blankets while Gordon slipped into the ocean to dosome body surfing. Gabby met some new friends at the park and decided that she is OK with dogs.

Gabby is sporting one of three new pairs of sunglasses. She still gets comments everywhere she goes!

Gabby's First Tooth

Gabby is 9 months old today and her first tooth is in sight! Gabby has been extra fussy, running a slight fever and we finally have an answer...she is teething. We hoped this was the cause of her unhappiness and we finally have confirmation. This morning we saw her first tooth coming in on the bottom. YEA!!!
